Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) will set up 3000 schools in far flung areas of the country under Rural Integration School Education (RISE) programme.Around 20,000 teachers would be hired which would play pivotal role in the enhancement of literacy in the country, Vice Chancellor AIOU Dr Sangi said.He informed that a comprehensive strategy has been chalked to setup a chain of primary schools in remote areas to impart online education and provide direct link between teachers and students through audio visual conferences.
He said that a chain of community libraries is also being set up where the books would not only available for the students without any charges but these would be issued to them for preparation of exams.
Dr Sangi said that a network of regional, district and tehsil level campuses is being developed which will be equipped with facilities including labs, audio-video conference rooms, internet, computer labs,and digital libraries linked with renowned universities of the world.
He said that the refresher courses will also be introduced in various fields especially n information technology and agriculture which will fulfill the demands of local areas.
